More about being Home

scan%2520Mariissa%25205%2520yrs%2520%25282%2529Marissa, 5 years old, decked out in her Easter finery - another scanned 35mm photo. I got my first digital camera in 2002, the year after this photo was taken and I wish I'd had it sooner. There is no comparison with a digital photo for sharing with others via the Internet or just sending with an email.
I still haven't decided to buy another camera.... Am still thinking about it.
It took me nearly 12 hours to transfer my backups and photos from the old external storage to the new. They now have an external drive with a faster transfer capability called eSATA (External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment.) - but this is available only for the newest computers. My computer, which is only 2 years old, is still USB dependent so I opted to save the extra $50 and not upgrade to the more sophisticated technology. When I have to buy a new computer will keep it in mind though, I love {shopping} the newest technology.
Everything seems faster; faster Internet connections, faster downloads, faster transfers, faster traffic - it seems the only thing moving slower is me.

Today was Memorial day, we had hamburgers cooked on the grill, potato salad, corn on the cob and a bunch of other stuff including fresh strawberries with my secret sour cream topping. Good good good. It was fun to have both grand kids here for a while, to meet Carl's newest girlfriend, to talk and laugh with young people. Tomorrow everyone starts back to school and work and I will start back at the gym - promise.

  1. Sweet photo of Marissa!
Your lunch today sounds marvelous. Hope your week is a good one.

  2. Isn't she sweet! Is she a grandchild?

  3. Precious little lady you have there. And I think we need to talk about that secret sour cream topping?? Give it up, please.

  4. she is the same Marissa of my prior post. the first photo was of her at 5 days and this one five years. She is now 13 - there will be more photos showing her growing up

  5. LG light sour cream, juice of one lemon (this time two very small) and brown sugar to taste (about 3tbs.) Easy and really good with fresh strawberries. Don't sugar the strawberries.

  6. GingerV.........she is mesmerizing!! Those strawberries with that topping sounds to die for. So glad you're having such a wonderful time with your daughter in Houston my friend :)

  7. My holiday weekends are always terrible. They start on Thursdays and don't end until everyone goes home. Summer brings festivals and more festivals that eat up my weekends. I completely lose track of time.

However, today I think it is Tuesday, and I know I have not taken one water photo.

Anyway, I was just checking in with some of favorite bloggers to see how they were doing. Cute little girl - she is going to be a heart breaker.

Three weeks without that gorgeous trainer. Time to head home!

Sounds like you are having a great time. Wish you were closer to Maryland, so we could visit before you head back.

I thought you bought a new camera. The way you are going, your old camera is going to just "die" on you. And it will happen when you most need it.

Take care, my friend. Today is a day of rest for me. Yippie.

  8. "....faster Internet connections, faster downloads, faster transfers, faster traffic - it seems the only thing moving slower is me."

Very funny line, and very true about all of us!
