I've have been experiencing technical difficulties - one: I left the power supply for my computer in Friburgo and can't spare the 6 hours it would take to go back and get it.... AND not one store here that sells HP accessories.... "they will import the computer/laptop/printer etc, but not the accessories" - drat and double drat - this is SO Brazilian! Course you are not supposed to forget your power supply either when you leave home for 14 days. Now I am on Camillo's spare laptop (yes he keeps duplicate of everything including power supplies - but none of them fit mine) and don't have my 'Live Writer' nor my photo archives.....and the computer is in Portuguese, did I mention that......
Oh, back to the Friday Shoot out .... yesterday I walked down to the Lagoa to catch the tree lighting at 7pm and at 6:50 lightening and big drops of rain began to fall - I skeedaddled back to the apartment with only a couple shots - After dinner with all of Vivi's family, the twins and I walked down again, in the rain and wind (See what great lengths I go to for you all.) BUT all the photos were blurry. It is hard to hold an umbrella in the wind and take a nightime photo at the same time. I am going to post anyway. If I can get down there again tonight and make a better effort, I will post new ones tomorrow before we fly to France.
Ipanema is one of the most affluent areas in Rio de Janeiro but it does not "dress for Christmas" Inside the little gallerias you may find a small tree and some lights, some sparkles and baubles in the windows but there no coordinated effort to decorate the streets - it is pretty sad actually. They do line the sidewalks with red carpet that after weeks of rain look pretty - well tacky - (see last year's post http://gingersflowers.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-eve-in-rio.html)
The Photo in the header was taken a few weeks ago in Leblon shopping. Not bad.You all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - keep a look out, I will try to post from Paris a couple of times......
I love your header. Not bad at all. Well, isn't that just the way, raindrops when you need a clear sky. Sorry your photos turned out blurry but will come back if you post more. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I especially like the daytime shot. It looks like a waterfall in the upper right.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I like about the Shootouts - the great variety!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Paris vacation. (You'll want to dress warmly, but they will at least have any techno gizmo you need if you forget something.)
How neat to see a tree out on the water. :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a glorious banner presented here! I love it...you did pretty good getting this up in spite of the HP difficulties!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the call, and I look forward to hearing about your trip!
Forgetting the power supply is something I'd do Ginger lol
ReplyDeleteLove the new header.
Your header is breathtaking! I almost forgot to look at the post. I imagine that tree out on the water looks spectacular lit up and reflecting. Have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos as usual! Love the new header photo!
ReplyDeleteWow that's a HUGE tree!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :)
The Header photo is awesome and the video is a lot of fun! Nothing like contending with night, winds, umbrellas and a camera at the same time!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe flight!
Yes, I loved the video too! Did it ever change? Change into what? You had me on the edge of my seat! Somehow it reminded me of Andy Warhol.
