FSO – Roads and Pathways

DSC04717

We have done this topic with slight variations several times.  Makes for a challenge to come up with another angle.  I guess that’s what happens when you are posting your 73 MTFSO.  There may not be any new ways to show my town.  But here I go giving it another chance.

Below our house in the mountains is a small road that winds its way through the forest.  It is just wide enough for one car -  but if necessary any car that you might meet will pull way to the side or back up until there is a small safer place to pull over.  The road is steep; it is dirt and stone and ruts, graded over a bed of old construction material.  I imagine that it started as a trail through the wood in which the forest people walked to go to church on Sundays and to get their home grown vegetables to market.

Now many have small trucks, Fuscas, motorbikes and bicycles, and the path gradually became a road.  Lucky for us if you walk about 2 KM to the other end this small road meets a larger dirt road which is wider and better maintained and most people choose to drive the other direction, leaving the road below our house quiet and undisturbed, making is a great place to walk 30 minutes down the hill and 45 minutes up – more depending on how often you stop for a quick photo.

  2. Is that reddish thingie some kind of fungus? I like it that you describe this little road as a quiet place to walk. And I love the last photo of leaves and dew. This looks like a good place to take pictures.

  4. I like the picture of the girl walking on the trail, looks like a long walk for her! these are something not so familiar here, the county road/trail I mean. We're so urbanized here so it's refreshing seeing something so totally different .

  5. I love living where there are roads like that you can just stroll along, taking photos.
You're right; it can be hard to find something new to say on a topic that's been done, more or less, before. Sometimes the challenge drives us to new discoveries, but it's ok to take a break.

The purple flower picture is a beauty, and the last shot, with the water drops on the leaves.

  7. Kerry that is a fungus. on a fallen log - natures way of getting rid of debri.

NanU - I do take a break - 3 of them - but I had this little road and it is indicative of the area - there are hundreds of trails gone to roads around here.

  11. http://annsnowchin.blogspot.com/2010/07/xylogenous-chinese-wood-fungi.html

You found some wood fungi. Now, go and find some Chinese to sell them to.
You will be the next millionaire in Brazil. LOL

Seriously, they are edible and quite delicious.

The water droplets on the last phot were so small, yet you captured them. It like it.

Re: The cell phone tower, they built it anyway despite the protest. We have 660 kids, and I do think they should have considered the kids. We had a public forum in the school as we are an environmentally conscious school.

  12. If there was any struggle coming up with something for this topic, Ginger, you certainly hid it well. Love your road and, even more, what you captured along the way. The fungus and the purple flower - WOW!
