Still thinking Rome as my hometown.
As I have walked around this week I paid special attention of the monuments and the sky. On cloudy days the sky washes to white and is not at all interesting. Of course, rainy days are rainy days and there is not anything you can do about it. But before the rain and after the rain, ah, now there you can find extra texture for your photos. I find that I prefer some cloud to all clouds (rainy white gray skies), or no clouds (bright endlessly blue skies). Big fluffy, soft looking clouds or dark and dramatic clouds, those are my favorites as a backdrop in my photos; and the best layers and layers of different types of clouds
Lovely cityshots!
ReplyDeleteThe shots of the clouds with the architecture make for a very dramatic effect.
ReplyDeleteHi Ginger. I guess I kind of disappeared from the blogosphere for a while, and your comment reminded me not to be so introverted. The trip to Italy on my blog was actually over weeks ago - I'm just that late on posting. If you are in Europe for some time yet, I'm not so far away if you get a hankering to see central France. I'd love to meet you!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of Rome. It's such a fascinating city. Even with the excessive tourists it's still a pleasure to explore. Enjoy your trip!
We are spoiled here because we get a lot of very blue skies with white puffy clouds year round.
ReplyDeleteI just love that soaring column reaching for the clouds. It would be hard to read the weather looking at the clouds in that shot. I love the thought of these ancient places standing below the same sky for centuries. I wonder if the cloud formations have changed with the changing climate??
ReplyDeleteI love your dramatic clouds... And having used that word, I suppose I must choose the amphi theatre as favourite (LOL)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the combination of grey architecture and white clouds. The colors are soothing and yet the clouds add drama.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as back drop for the photos, I love them!
