MT FSO - Bokeh

This is one of those topics that we have from time to time that is more about photography than it is about our towns and when we have these special topics I thoroughly enjoy them. I learn new things about taking photos, I feel challenged to try and understand what I am doing with my camera. I still didn't use manual settings but here are a few results from my efforts. All of these photos are of plants from the Houston area and were taken this week.

  1. Nice shots, I especially like the second to last one! The blur seems to stand out really well in it.

  2. Oh this is gorgeous, I had trouble, but did some things that I hope are close!

How are you? Did not see you on my post lately?

  3. Wow Ginger, you've out bokeh'd yourself. I love how the second to last one has some spectral highlights too. (I just learned that term about 2-3 weeks ago from a book, so it is great to have a chance to use it.!)

  7. I guess this is what FSO brings. It's not just about sharing, it's also about learning; in this case, Photography.

I especially love the 4th picture. I'm not sure what that is, it looks like Cherries to me, haha!

You sure live up to your blog title! 'Flowers and more'! :)

I was going to skip this week, but seeing your nice work I'm inspired to dig through the archives after all.

  10. Beautiful as usual. Houston? Your travels remind me of the old learning game "Where in the World is Carmen Santiago."

  11. You got it! You managed to get those lights in the background on several of these, and I love the way that looks. I want to practice this some more.

  13. These are beautiful. Do you think it is possible to get these kind of shots without a gadget on your camera? I have no such ability on my camera and didn't know any technique to try. Great job.

  18. They are all perfect, but my favorite photo - the white daisies? Those are daisies, aren't they?

  19. Patty - no daisies – much, much smaller, a wild flower growing along side of a wetland area.... I sat down on the path to get the flower and the lights of the sun on water and nearly did not make it up again. Sacrificed my body for a photos.

  20. The second and third ones are really great ones, the flowers in front are surrounded by the blurred ones at the back.

This challenge got us thinking, didn't it.
