Man’s best friend, the dog was the first domesticated animal. 
Goat’s cheese anyone? Fresh Goat’s cheese is one of the best things in Brasil, but the goats are raised inside – I’ve never seen goats grazing out in a pasture. I imagine that they do too much damage to the grasses in this area of Brasil with the shallow root systems.
Ginger, first I have to say that your new header is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I love your photos, especially of the brown cow and the dog is beautiful. I like the photo of the dog and human on the path.

I am not a fan of cheese, I did try goats cheese.
ReplyDeleteYou cattle's head seems quite thin. I always thought that Brazilian eat a lot of meat.

ReplyDeleteJarieLyn - I took the header photo on a hike I took locally - where I found that very elegant cow sitting inside a fence - The dog is a stray that lives outside our neighbors house and he barks at me everytime I go by... he's kind of cute but a pain in .....

Truly you have not seen a goat grazing outside ....we do have lots but I didn't seem to find a paddock full this week.

Ann I love goat's cheese - I don't like cheese that has, blue, green or dark brown spots in it, but the pure whites or slightly creamy colored are great. Brasilians (with money) do eat a lot of meat - but the cows are rangy, the meat often tough and NO FAT to soften the effects.

Glad you told me those were goats. Every year I have to cover a 4-H Club fair where kids show off their animals. They get a big kick out of me because every time I photograph a sheep or goat I have to to keeping asking what animal I took a photo of. Some of them learn quickly to just go ahead and tell me what I am photographing.

ReplyDeleteI was in Brazil with my family about 12 years ago, and remember going to those all-meat restaurants a few times: first course sausage, last course steak. I ate enough red meat to cure myself of it forever! I like your portrait of the red cow with down-turned ears, upswept horns, and star in the middle.
